这时，世尊告诉舍利弗：“现在有一个法门，称为无染着陀罗尼，此法门是菩萨所修行法，过去菩萨之所受持，是菩萨之母。”
说完此句，舍利弗询问佛陀：“世尊！所谓陀罗尼是何含义？世尊！所谓陀罗尼既不是存在于某处、又不是不存在。（"Buddha! What is the meaning of Dharani? Buddha! The so-called Dharani does not exist somewhere, nor does it not exist. "）”
